About

Alexandra Rapaport

 New York, NY

Alexandra's work gravitates towards scenes that are imperfect and have a story to tell. Marks left, items out of place, and unusual arrangements all catch Alexandra's eye and show us beauty in quiet, lonely, simple spaces and scenes.

Alexandra attended her first formal photography course as a thirteen year old at the ICP in New York City. She still remembers her first homework assignment. Since then she has studied with Joel Meyerowitz, Andrea Modica, and Amy Arbus among others. She earned her B.A. from Williams College in 1999.

Her 2001 documentary project involved seven months driving around the United States interviewing and photographing strangers in their twenties. Alexandra photographed and talked with over 90 individuals and produced the book, "Twentysomethings".
